R&D Verification Engineer II

TL;DR

R&D Verification Engineer (Optics): Conducting software testing of Optics applications such as Lumerical and interoperability with other Optics products. Focus on development of internal tools used to automate software testing, quality processes, and assist other teams in performing automated application testing.

What you will do

• Specify and write test cases, creates, modify, and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts.
• Perform functional, application, regression, and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments and investigate possible causes of problems.
• Create test plans, participate in defect management and testing metrics.
• Apply standard techniques and procedures and comply with the company's overall development and testing processes​.
• Work in a variety of computing environments: Windows, Linux, VM’s, Compute Clusters, Amazon and Azure Clouds.
• Report defects, reproduce defects reported by other teams, follow up and verify fixes.

Requirements

• BS in Optics or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years of experience, or MS with no experience
• Previous experience in quality assurance or software development roles
• Technical knowledge and experience with Python, C++, MATLAB, and/or other programming and scripting languages

Nice to have

• Experience in a large-scale commercial software testing and verification environment
• Experience with electromagnetics simulation tools
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
• A thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to detail and quality
• Experience in working in agile teams following methods like Scrum or Kanban
• Experience using defect tracking software such as ADO (TFS), Jira, Bugzilla, or similar
• Experience with continuous integration systems such as Bamboo, Jenkins, or similar
• Experience using revision control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, or similar
• Experience with automated testing frameworks as Squish, Selenium, or similar
• Experience using hirify.global Lumerical or other hirify.global products is an asset
• A background in photonics is an asset
