What you will do

• Ensure the health and performance of Wikimedia’s production relational database systems.
• Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot relational database systems in various environments.
• Design and implement replication topologies and oversee database schema changes.
• Monitor and optimize database query performance.
• Contribute to the automation of database management workflows.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response.

Requirements

• Advanced experience with MariaDB or MySQL database administration.
• Proficiency in SQL and query/schema optimization.
• 6+ years of experience in a hands-on DBA role.
• Solid English language skills.
• Ability to travel 1-2 times a year.
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in automation/programming/scripting (Python).
• Experience with SRE practices and tooling.
• Experience with LAMP stack technologies.
• Strong track record of open source contributions.
