DW-Volontariat / DW Traineeship 2028

Location: Full-time training at DW's broadcasting centers in Bonn and Berlin, with placements in international bureaus.

What you will do

• Complete an 18-month bilingual journalism traineeship from January 2028 through June 2029.
• Build practical journalism skills through seminars, training blocks, and newsroom placements.
• Produce content for TV, radio, and online formats, from idea generation through technical production.
• Explore digital storytelling, data journalism, virtual reality, and other future journalism trends.
• Complete placements in DW editorial departments in Bonn and Berlin and in an international bureau.
• Develop independent journalism projects and innovative content.

Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in one of DW's languages with excellent English and good German, or native English with good German, or native German with excellent English.
• Completed university degree, college degree, or apprenticeship.
• Initial journalism experience.
• Creative mindset and social media expertise.
• Ability to work under deadlines and as part of a team.
• Applicants may come from technology/IT, science, politics, economics, law, or other professional fields.

Nice to have

• Background or professional experience in technology/IT, science, politics, economics, law, medicine, mathematics, nursing, culinary arts, aviation, football, or refereeing.
