Associate Embedded Software Engineer, Early Career (Embedded C/C++)

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States; site-based, working 3+ days per week from a hirify.global office or work location; U.S. Citizenship required. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

Salary: $95,000–$150,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $118,000–$177,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deliver, and support embedded software for Ka-band, L-band, and 5G satellite terminal products.
• Work as an individual contributor within an agile software team alongside a technical lead.
• Participate in software design, development, and code reviews to deliver quality products.
• Collaborate with other software engineers and teams to achieve development, design, quality, agility, and delivery goals.
• Travel up to 10%.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of full-time relevant industry experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Demonstrated interest in generative AI and AI-assisted software development through coursework, projects, or research.
• Hands-on software development or relevant academic project experience using C/C++.
• Proven experience with Linux/UNIX and object-oriented methodology and development.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate software designs and existing codebases.
• Strong ownership and excellent communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux and bare-metal programming for embedded systems.
• Experience writing C/C++ unit tests and developing Linux hardware peripheral drivers or Linux kernel code.
• Understanding of multithreaded programming and applications.
• Familiarity with Git, CMake, POSIX, and Bash shell scripting.
• Coursework or familiarity with RF and satellite communications principles.
• Experience using Claude or similar AI development tools.
• Detail-oriented analytical problem-solving and effective teamwork and communication.
