Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator, DevOps

Location: Hybrid, ideally based in or near Toronto or Montreal with office attendance approximately twice per week; Pittsburgh may also be considered.

What you will do

• Build and automate hirify.global’s Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Support migration of products including Omnia, One Connect, and UDL to the Cloudnxt Azure platform.
• Develop repeatable, version-controlled automation for Microsoft and Linux environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Jenkins or equivalent tools.
• Use generative AI responsibly for coding, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation, validating and improving its outputs.
• Create technical documentation, procedures, and runbooks while providing broader infrastructure support when required.

Requirements

• Practical experience delivering Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Experience with a major cloud platform; Azure is preferred, while relevant AWS experience and transferable knowledge are also considered.
• Software engineering capability demonstrated through development, advanced scripting, or automation projects.
• Programming or scripting experience with a relevant language such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Java; experience with every listed language is not required.
• Experience automating Microsoft and Windows-based environments and willingness to work across Windows and Linux technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD principles and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
• An automation-focused engineering mindset, with the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and apply transferable engineering principles.
• Willingness to use generative AI in the engineering workflow and judgment to review, validate, and improve AI-generated outputs.
• Broader infrastructure knowledge sufficient to provide cover across Windows, Linux, and Active Directory when required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on Azure experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, migrations, or landing zones.
• Experience with Ansible or other configuration management technologies.
• Knowledge of monitoring, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, vulnerability remediation, or cloud security.
• Practical experience using Claude or another generative AI assistant for engineering, troubleshooting, log analysis, or documentation.
• Relevant cloud or automation certifications, such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
