(Senior) Frontend Engineer - Webstack (React)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; hybrid workplace

Salary: €60,000–€70,000 gross yearly

What you will do

• Build and maintain React and TypeScript frontend features for the web shop across desktop, mobile web, and tablet.
• Optimize frontend performance down to the p99 and create custom abstractions or frameworks when standard solutions are insufficient.
• Collaborate directly with product, UX, and QA to deliver customer-facing products from concept through deployment.
• Use AI-assisted development with Claude or Cursor to build custom solutions, A/B testing, deployment dashboards, and small automations.
• Design monitoring that detects deployment and campaign issues, distinguishes customer traffic from bots, and keeps alerting stable.
• Solve architectural and security challenges, support refactoring and research, and contribute through code reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend development experience, including strong TypeScript, JavaScript, and React skills with hooks, context, and the React ecosystem.
• Solid HTML and modern CSS skills, including CSS-in-JS and responsive design.
• Good understanding of web performance, including Core Web Vitals, and accessibility.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and managing state with tools such as Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
• Experience with frontend testing, including tools such as Jest or React Testing Library.
• Experience with modern tooling such as Vite, npm, or yarn, as well as Git and CI/CD.
• Curiosity about AI-assisted development and the judgment to critically review AI-generated output.
• Problem-solving mindset and ownership: ability to handle non-standard problems, evaluate multiple sources of information, deliver features to production, and ask for help when useful.

Nice to have

• Experience with server-side rendering and Node.js.
• Experience in large-scale e-commerce, ideally with a design system or component library.
• End-to-end testing experience, such as Cypress.
• Interest in monitoring, observability, or web security, including bot traffic and alerting.
