Graduate Talent (Firmware Development)

Location: Penang, Malaysia; hybrid work model with time split between the assigned hirify.global site and off-site work

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, and validate boot firmware components for hirify.global client and edge computing reference platforms.
• Participate in firmware architecture discussions, feature design reviews, and requirements definition.
• Design and execute unit tests, integration tests, and platform validation methodologies.
• Investigate, debug, and root-cause hardware, firmware, and system-level issues using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
• Develop automation scripts and engineering tools to improve development efficiency, test coverage, and product quality.
• Collaborate with silicon architects, hardware designers, software engineers, validation teams, and platform integrators across hirify.global’s engineering network; apply Generative AI and Agentic AI to development, debugging, validation, knowledge discovery, and test creation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong programming skills in one or more of C, C++, and Python.
• Understanding of computer architecture, embedded systems, operating systems, and software development fundamentals.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Passion for learning emerging technologies and solving challenging technical problems.
• Graduate candidates who are curious about both hardware and software and enjoy building beyond academic coursework are sought.

Nice to have

• Hands-on personal, university, hackathon, internship, or open-source experience with Arduino, ESP32, STM32, RP2040, PIC, MSP430, or similar microcontrollers.
• Experience with Raspberry Pi, Jetson Orin Nano, BeagleBone, or other embedded Linux platforms; robotics, IoT, sensor integration, autonomous systems, drones, or industrial automation.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, RTOS, device drivers, or bare-metal firmware development.
• AI or machine learning projects using TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenVINO, ONNX, or similar frameworks, including edge AI deployment and computer vision, speech AI, robotics AI, or autonomous systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar coding assistants.
• Experience developing AI agents, autonomous workflows, RAG systems, multi-agent applications, or integrating LLMs into software and engineering workflows.
• Experience building AI-enabled automation pipelines for testing, debugging, code generation, or data analysis.
• Active GitHub portfolio, participation in maker communities, robotics competitions, engineering clubs, or open-source initiatives, and the ability to turn an idea into a working prototype.
