Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid with 3 days in the office

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and validation of machine learning, NLP, and large language model solutions for clinical operations, feasibility, and scientific intelligence.
• Translate ambiguous business questions into analytical approaches with measurable success criteria and delivery milestones.
• Design RAG, information extraction, and agentic AI workflows using structured and unstructured clinical and operational data.
• Apply statistical, experimental, and causal inference methods to quantify impact and support evidence-based decisions.
• Partner with Data and ML Engineering teams to move solutions from proof of concept into monitored production services using Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
• Implement MLOps and LLMOps practices, generative AI evaluation frameworks, responsible AI controls, and regulatory-quality compliance.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or another relevant quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering Data Science or Machine Learning solutions, including taking at least one solution into production.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience using pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or Hugging Face.
• Practical experience with large language models, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, and RAG architectures.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, experimental design, and model evaluation.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, and MLOps technologies including MLflow, Docker, CI/CD, and orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for influencing technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharma, CRO, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
• Familiarity with clinical trial data and standards including CDISC, clinical study protocols, site data, and investigator data.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure OpenAI/AI Foundry, AKS, or knowledge graph technologies.
• Knowledge of causal inference, network analysis, or optimisation methods.
• Publications, open-source contributions, or patents.
