Software Engineer, Agents (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, Seattle, or San Francisco, United States

Salary: Base compensation of $146K–$240K in San Francisco and New York City; $132K–$216K in other US locations, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure agent-driven services and systems using modern AI frameworks.
• Develop high-throughput APIs and infrastructure for agent memory, communication channels, skills, decision logic, security, and workflow management.
• Integrate agents with backend services, data stores, vector databases, search and retrieval systems, and external APIs.
• Translate agent use cases into production-ready software with product managers, AI researchers, data engineers, and UX teams.
• Implement reliability, monitoring, observability, metrics, logging, CI/CD, and fault tolerance for agent components.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and rigorous code reviews.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of strong production Python experience.
• Daily professional use of agentic coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
• Experience building distributed systems, microservices, or complex backend APIs supporting AI or agent workflows.
• Expertise integrating AI models, agent frameworks such as Langraph or Agent Harness, vector databases, and large-context reasoning services.
• Understanding of agent orchestration patterns, state management, and asynchronous workflows.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker; Kubernetes; and operational engineering practices.
• Knowledge of performance optimization, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a “connect + challenge + own” mindset.
• Previous work on AI agents coordinating multi-step actions, reasoning, or autonomous decision-making loops, plus contributions to open-source agent toolkits or SDKs.

Nice to have

• Experience with React and TypeScript for agent management interfaces.
