Music & Sound Annotation Expert (AI)

Micro1 engages music and sound annotation experts for a customer project in music and audio technology.

What you will do

• Listen to 30–90-second field recordings and annotate instruments, tempo, key, background events, timestamps, and scene details.
• Compare recordings of the same song captured in different locations and identify similarities and changes.
• Review AI model descriptions of audio clips, mark correct, incorrect, or invented details, and provide brief explanations.
• Attend a paid onboarding and calibration session and a short weekly sync.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on music or audio experience.
• Background as a working or gigging musician, session player, producer, mixing engineer, music educator, ear-training instructor, band or choir director, conservatory student or graduate, location sound recordist, sound designer, foley artist, or podcast/documentary audio editor.
• Strong analytical listening skills, including identifying individual instruments in busy, noisy real-world mixes.
• Ability to identify tempo within a few BPM and musical key; relative pitch with a reference is acceptable.
• Comfort with detailed, repetitive annotation work in a web platform using dropdowns, timestamps, and structured notes.
• Clear written English for brief, evidence-based notes.
• Quality headphones, a quiet workspace, and reliable internet.
• Availability for 20–25 hours per week during the engagement window.
