Research Technician I, Study Services (Oncology Research)

Location: Rockville, MD, USA; onsite work in a research laboratory and vivarium. Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Salary: $24.00–$26.00 hourly.

hirify.global conducts oncology research studies and provides study services using in vivo models.

What you will do

• Support in vivo oncology research studies in mice as part of the Study Services team.
• Perform animal handling and restraint, body-weight and tumor-volume measurements, compound administration, blood collection, and euthanasia.
• Record study data in the laboratory information management system and follow study protocols.
• Prepare studies and maintain sample labeling, supplies, and laboratory organization.
• Reach a productivity expectation of 40 activities per hour within 3 months after training completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, pharmacology, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong computer skills; organized, detail-oriented, and process-oriented.
• Ability to follow procedures, communicate openly, collaborate with colleagues, accept feedback, and adapt to change.
• Ability to perform manual dexterity, fine-motor, repetitive-motion, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting activities throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with routine exposure to odors, chemicals, sharps, blood, body fluids, and tissue.
• Lean Six Sigma White Belt certification is required within 1 year of hire; training is provided.

Nice to have

• AALAS ALAT certification.
• One year of related experience in a contract research organization or similar research setting, or completion of the hirify.global Laboratory Animal Science & Research Apprenticeship Program instead of experience.
