Senior Data Engineer (US)

Location: New York City, NY, US

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 per year; the range spans multiple levels, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, budget, and location.

What you will do

• Lead complex technical workstreams and problem-solving across client engagements.
• Design, build, and scale data pipelines and infrastructure for ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineering on model training, evaluation, and serving.
• Integrate marketing data from GA4, advertising platforms, CRMs, and CDPs into reliable, well-modeled datasets.
• Establish engineering standards, documentation, monitoring, and data quality practices.
• Translate business needs into product-minded data solutions, mentor others, share knowledge, and improve tooling and ways of working.
• Apply AI-powered coding, agentic engineering, and AI-enabled workflows to accelerate delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including building data pipelines and infrastructure from the ground up, with strong ownership and measurable impact.
• Deep expertise in cloud data platforms and experience deploying data workloads in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and ETL.
• Strong product orientation and the ability to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and deliver measurable business value.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered coding, agentic engineering, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Experience mentoring others, establishing engineering standards, and contributing to a learning culture.
• Familiarity with marketing data ecosystems, including GA4, advertising platforms, CRMs, and CDPs.
• Software engineering fundamentals: version control, testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical stakeholders at every level in a 50/50 technical and creative organization.
• Experience leading complex, ambiguous projects from definition through delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance, privacy compliance, and security best practices.
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into data pipelines, with exposure to GenAI applications.
• Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, SageMaker, and Vertex AI, plus vector databases or RAG patterns.
• Experience across multiple verticals or client types.
• A track record of advocating for and implementing process improvements.
