HR Director, North America & EOR

Location: Fully remote, based in the New York City metro area, with short-notice in-person leadership meetings, lunches, and occasional offsites.

Base salary: $160,000–$195,000 per year, plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the North America and EOR People team, setting priorities, coaching team members, and handling regional HR escalations.
• Act as a strategic HR partner to C-level and VP-level leaders on objectives, KPIs, retention, organizational structure, and people priorities.
• Own the annual merit cycle, salary bands, pay equity, and ad-hoc compensation adjustments.
• Manage benefits, leave policies, work-from-abroad policy, and compliance audits.
• Own Rippling as the North America and EOR HR system of record and coordinate alignment with HiBob and the HRIS function in Israel.
• Manage the People Ops budget, internal people communications, learning and development programs, travel, and Mesh card administration.

Requirements

• Proven experience directing HR at startups or high-growth technology companies as the senior HR leader for a region or the whole company.
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including time as a Director or Head of HR.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. and Canadian employment law and multi-state compliance.
• Hands-on experience with onboarding, offboarding, HRIS, benefits, payroll partnerships, policies, and documentation.
• Strong employee-relations judgment, including investigations, performance management, and sensitive exits.
• Ability to build processes where little exists and execute hands-on rather than only directing.
• Clear, direct communication and credibility advising senior leaders.
• Based in the New York City metro area.

Nice to have

• Experience leading HR for the North American arm of an Israeli-headquartered startup and working across Israeli and North American cultures and time zones.
• Experience coordinating global HR policies, benefits, and compensation with headquarters in another country.
• Background in SaaS or fintech.
• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification.
• Rippling administration experience; familiarity with HiBob.
