Junior Data Engineer (TS/SCI)

Location: Herndon, VA, United States; onsite at least 90% of the time or as needs dictate.

Salary: $115,000–$155,000 annual base pay, depending on location, qualifications, experience, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines for large-scale analytics.
• Process and integrate structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using distributed data processing technologies.
• Support deployment, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of data engineering components across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Implement data validation, quality assurance, and monitoring to improve accuracy, consistency, availability, and performance.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and government stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions and document workflows and designs.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI U.S. Government security clearance are required; willingness to obtain a CI poly is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, engineering, or a related technical field, plus 1–4 years of relevant experience in data engineering, software development, analytics, database administration, or a related technical field. Relevant internships or project experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience in data engineering, software development, database engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Working proficiency in Python and SQL and/or Elastic, including scripts, data transformations, and automated data processing workflows.
• Experience with relational databases or distributed data processing technologies, with a basic understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data integration.
• Willingness to work onsite at least 90% of the time or as business needs dictate.

• Apache NiFi, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, OpenShift, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Hive.
• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Apache Airflow.
• CI/CD, Git, DevSecOps, or automated testing.
• Data governance, metadata, data lineage, or security experience.
• Government, defense, intelligence, or other regulated-environment experience.
