Senior Business Controller (Finance)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working with flexible arrangements and up to 20 days per year working from abroad in the home country.

What you will do

• Lead annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, long-term strategic plans, and financial control cycles.
• Analyze financial performance, trends, opportunities, risks, expenses, FTE growth, and business KPIs.
• Advise senior stakeholders and business partners, present financial insights, and support complex business decisions.
• Develop business cases, KPIs, metrics, and actionable recommendations for Finance and Strategy.
• Drive process standardization, reporting automation, digital reporting, and cross-functional transformation projects.
• Lead cost optimization initiatives, month-end close activities, and collaboration across FP&A, accounting, business, and controller teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant progressive experience in FP&A or Business Control.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Advanced Excel knowledge and financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Ability to business partner with demanding stakeholders, provide proactive advice, and explain Finance and economics clearly to non-Finance partners.
• Ability to take ownership, work autonomously, review colleagues’ work, and manage multiple competing priorities through completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams and an unstructured environment.
• Ability to combine strategic oversight with detailed financial analysis to resolve intricate issues.

Nice to have

• Additional professional certification such as CPA, RC, CIMA, or CMA, or currently studying toward one.
• Google Sheets experience.
