Facilities Principal Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Malta, New York, United States; onsite role supporting the Fab 8 facility.

Expected salary: $85,000–$146,000 per year, determined by qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

• Operate, evaluate, maintain, and improve Central Utility Building systems, including chilled-water and hot-water systems and a 60,000-ton chilled-water plant.
• Coordinate technicians, service vendors, Global Supply Chain, Tool Installation, Process, and AME teams on maintenance, contracts, installations, and utility turn-on activities.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs, standard operating procedures, SPC monitoring, and out-of-control action plans for mechanical facilities systems.
• Review and approve design packages, new installations, commissioning, construction, and startup activities for facilities equipment.
• Lead reliability, safety, capacity, and cost-improvement initiatives for systems such as cleanroom air quality, scrubbed exhaust, and process cooling water.
• Conduct problem-solving sessions, FMEAs, and HAZOP analyses; provide management reports on projects, incidents, and activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or chemistry, or relevant engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry in facilities or manufacturing engineering, or Central Utility operations/engineering.
• Analytical, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and self-starting capabilities.
• Experience with structured problem-solving techniques and lean tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Availability and willingness to flex work hours as needed for emergency operational issues.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with semiconductor mechanical-system operations and semiconductor manufacturing.
• Advanced experience with SPC, structured 8D problem solving, and SAP systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
