What you will do

• Co-develop AI-native market roadmaps with country and cluster presidents, therapeutic area leaders, and senior stakeholders.
• Own and evolve the investment thesis for International Commercial Digital & AI, including strategic arenas, market needs, and portfolio white spaces.
• Build the active opportunity agenda, commission internal proposals, engage ecosystem and partnership teams, and challenge markets or functions to address strategic gaps.
• Own opportunity intake, triage, and the portfolio backlog across market-referred, internal, and external submissions.
• Prepare investment memos, recommendations, counterfactuals, risks, evidence standards, and open questions for the Investment Committee.
• Run committee governance, maintain decision records, identify portfolio patterns, and manage strategy and investment-process programmes through to closure.

Requirements

• Extensive relevant experience in commercial strategy, portfolio strategy, corporate strategy, investment governance, venture capital, business development, or a related field; candidates without an advanced degree require further experience.
• Exceptional pattern recognition across markets, cases, and functions, with the ability to develop a coherent investment thesis from scattered signals.
• Credibility in conversations with therapeutic area leads, country managers, country presidents, and cluster presidents.
• Understanding of different go-to-market models, market archetypes, healthcare systems, and the balance between common strategy and local variation.
• Strong commercial and strategic judgement, including the ability to connect market shifts, business needs, and technology possibilities.
• Outcome-oriented approach to AI and technology, including the judgement to determine when technology is not the answer.
• Ability to defend positions before the Investment Committee, challenge unsupported enthusiasm, and use precedent to maintain portfolio coherence.
• Highly structured approach to strategy development, governance, documentation, and leading complex work through a matrix without formal authority.
