Senior Software Engineer (Marketing Technology)

Location: US remote eligible; must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required as agreed with the manager.

Base pay: $196,000–$227,000 USD annually, with potential eligibility for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

What you will do

• Scale and optimize segmentation and insights platforms handling 100k+ requests per second with high availability, low latency, and strong observability.
• Build agentic features for the autonomous Marketing Growth Engine, primarily supporting campaign ideation and refinement.
• Lead projects through technical design, implementation, testing, experimentation, and production rollout.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Marketing Operations, and engineering partners to turn marketing goals into platform capabilities.
• Support internal teams with service onboarding, use-case guidance, integrations, and system improvements.
• Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-mortems for systems serving millions of guests and hosts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in backend systems and large-scale service-oriented architecture.
• Experience building agentic systems or LLM-powered applications.
• Proficiency in one or more modern languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or Kotlin.
• Strong communication skills and experience driving initiatives across teams, organizations, and leadership.
• Ability to learn, drive impact, and move quickly without sacrificing quality.
