Buyer II (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Bloomfield, CT, US; onsite role

Salary: USD 63,000–85,000 annually

What you will do

• Execute purchase orders, issue RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and manage PO updates.
• Lead supply-chain activities for new product introduction and development programs from concept through launch.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning, Quality, Program Management, Contracts, and Compliance.
• Track long-lead items, procurement milestones, project inventory, material readiness, and risks affecting prototype and production schedules.
• Identify, evaluate, select, onboard, and qualify suppliers for new technologies, components, and assemblies.
• Manage supplier alignment for Engineering Change Orders, export-control compliance, supply continuity, and backup shipping activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in supply chain or procurement.
• Strong supplier communication skills and the ability to manage production-driven priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical information related to precision-engineered components.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Excellent time-management, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Must be classified as a U.S. Person under applicable regulations or be eligible for authorization under a U.S. government export license.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace and defense supply chain management, including procurement, subcontract management, and supplier sourcing.
• Experience supporting new product introduction and development projects.
• Strategic sourcing expertise for opto-mechanical assemblies, laser systems, and optical, mechanical, and electrical components.
• IFS or Oracle ERP experience.
• Supplier cost control, schedule-driven execution, and long-term cost-reduction experience.
• Experience with LEAN initiatives and continuous improvement in supply chain operations.
• Knowledge of Quality, Inventory Management, Shipping/Receiving, Configuration Management, or Document Control.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and government-contracting requirements.
• Experience with dual sourcing and supply continuity planning.
