Bioinformatics Scientist I (Cancer Genomics)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, US; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $112,560–$140,700 per year, with a discretionary annual bonus potentially available.

hirify.global develops diagnostic products using massively parallel sequencing of tumor genomic DNA and RNA.

What you will do

• Partner with biochemists, bioinformatics scientists, computational biologists, and data scientists on diagnostic product development.
• Develop methods and algorithms to identify and characterize alterations in tumor DNA and RNA from clinical cancer specimens.
• Enhance assay capabilities and technical robustness of existing methods.
• Process, analyze, and interpret high-volume data for method development and validation.
• Evaluate analytical aspects of emerging technologies and contribute scientific and technical data to project planning and presentations.
• Provide independent contributions while preparing project schedules, deliverables, and documentation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in biochemistry, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or a similar discipline.
• At least 1 year of industry or academic medical center experience, or post-doctorate work.
• Proficiency with R and Python programming and scripting languages.
• Compliance with FMI attendance policies.

Nice to have

• PhD in biochemistry, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or a similar discipline.
• Three or more years of industry experience.
• Strong understanding of molecular biology and genomics, including computational approaches to cancer genome analysis.
• Experience with additional programming languages, complex production analytical systems, biological-data algorithms, high-throughput sequencing, or cancer research.
• Teamwork, time management, organization, independent work, collaboration, creative problem solving, and clear presentation of data to multidisciplinary audiences.
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient data privacy, with strong documentation practices, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks on time.
