Senior Server Engineer (C++)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; compensation is also provided for eligible remote market locations in the United States and British Columbia, Canada.

Salary: $130,700–$174,300 per year in California and Washington; $117,700–$157,000 per year in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland; $117,000–$157,000 per year in Colorado; CAD $115,700–$154,300 per year in British Columbia.

What you will do

• Develop backend architecture and services supporting NBA hirify.global online features.
• Design and optimize distributed systems for scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
• Build large-scale computing solutions supporting millions of concurrent players.
• Develop efficient database structures and queries for high-volume, real-time transactions.
• Deliver low-latency, stable backend services and collaborate with engineering and design teams on online gameplay.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience focused on backend and server-side systems.
• Strong C++ proficiency and understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Perl, or Ruby; Python and JavaScript are preferred.
• Understanding of distributed and scalable systems, multithreaded programming, and large-scale real-time environments.
• Experience researching, evaluating, and integrating emerging technologies to improve platform performance and product capabilities.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent large-scale software development experience.
• Database optimization skills, including connection management and query performance tuning; working knowledge of SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with online gaming architectures and service design for live connected player experiences.
• Love for video games.

Nice to have

• Experience developing secure transaction systems involving virtual currency and account-based features.
• Video game console development experience.
