Lead Instructor: Data Analytics (Somali speaking)

Location: Remote, open to candidates anywhere, with reliable availability during East Africa Time (EAT) program hours

What you will do

• Prepare and lead live virtual lectures and hands-on demonstrations using the provided Data Analytics curriculum.
• Teach learners to work with real datasets in Excel, SQL, Python, and Tableau or Power BI, from raw data through completed analyses and dashboards.
• Manage Q&A, monitor chat, maintain engagement, and adapt delivery for learners with different starting points.
• Work with operations staff and Teaching Assistants, attend team meetings and weekly check-ins, and keep staff informed.
• Guide portfolio projects toward realistic entry-level analyst work and contribute to lesson design and course improvement.
• Submit lecture plans for review 10 days in advance and apply learner feedback from program surveys.

Requirements

• Professional working proficiency in both Somali and English, spoken and written, with the ability to teach technical content in both languages.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.
• A degree in a Data Analytics-related field, such as statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or information systems, or equivalent industry experience.
• Expertise in Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning, and charts.
• Expertise in SQL querying, filtering, joins, and aggregations.
• Expertise in Python data analysis with pandas and basic visualization.
• Ability to teach data visualization and dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
• Ability to teach descriptive statistics and data storytelling for clear recommendations to non-technical audiences.
• Teaching or training experience with adult learners, ideally beginners in a remote setting; energy, patience, and the ability to make complex topics accessible.
• Comfort with Zoom, Pumble or Slack, and online learning platforms.

Nice to have

• Analytics certification such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Tableau Certified Data Analyst, or the Google Data Analytics Certificate.
• Arabic proficiency and familiarity with Maay and standard Somali.
• Familiarity with the Somali context, including education access, connectivity, and remote work.
• Experience working in or hiring for remote or freelance analytics roles.
