Senior Applied AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; Flex Work requires at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Base salary: €96,000–€144,000 EUR per year in Ireland, with possible bonus and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Translate enterprise business logic, procedures, scripts, and domain expertise into structured, deterministic AI skill definitions.
• Use Cursor, Claude Code, and custom tooling to author, refactor, and refine prompts, tool descriptions, and MCP tool calls.
• Integrate skills with REST APIs, MCP servers, backend systems, and complex data structures.
• Optimize modular logic, prompt structures, token consumption, execution reliability, and deduplication.
• Build automated tests for edge cases, API parameter bounds, fallback logic, error handling, and schema mismatches.
• Establish authoring standards, review skill pull requests, curate evaluation datasets, implement quality gates, and analyze production traces for drift and failures.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python or TypeScript, focused on API integrations, backend services, or scripting.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code to author, refactor, and debug production code.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON/YAML schemas, and structured data transformations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong technical communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with non-technical domain experts and translating requirements into technical specifications.
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering, function calling, structured outputs, and agentic specifications including MCP.
• Ability to refactor complex domain scripts or unstructured documentation into modular, testable, production-ready code.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, mocking API dependencies, and debugging schema mismatches.
