Applied AI Engineer (MCP)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid Flex Work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Base salary: €72,000–€108,000 per year in Ireland; the role may also be eligible for a bonus plan, commission or bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Translate enterprise business logic, procedures, scripts, and domain expertise into structured, deterministic AI skill definitions.
• Use Cursor, Claude Code, and custom AI-assisted tooling to author, refactor, and refine prompts, tool descriptions, and MCP calls.
• Integrate skills with enterprise REST APIs, MCP servers, and complex data structures.
• Optimize modular prompt and execution logic for low token consumption and reliable agent behavior.
• Build automated tests for edge cases, API parameter bounds, fallback logic, error handling, and schema compliance.
• Establish authoring standards, review skill pull requests, curate evaluation datasets, analyze agent traces, and prevent production regressions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python or TypeScript, focused on API integrations, backend services, or scripting.
• 1+ year of hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code for production code.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON/YAML schemas, and structured data transformations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong technical communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with non-technical domain experts and translating requirements into technical specifications.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, function calling, structured outputs, and agentic specifications such as MCP.
• Ability to refactor complex domain scripts or unstructured documentation into modular, testable, production-ready code.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, mocking API dependencies, and debugging schema mismatches.
• Ability to learn new business domains quickly and deliver capabilities through rapid iteration.
• Experience building or operating LLM evaluation frameworks, including Ragas, DeepEval, Braintrust, LangSmith, or custom assertion suites.
