Principal Algorithm Engineer – Imaging / Ultrasound (ML)

Location: Onsite in Newton, Massachusetts, United States; an additional location is Mounds View, Minnesota, United States. Employees work onsite at least 4 days per week.

Salary: $160,800–$241,200 annually for U.S. locations excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations.

What you will do

• Research, design, develop, and evaluate signal processing, image processing, and computational algorithms for medical device applications.
• Advance ultrasound-enabled capabilities for the Affera Prism-2 cardiac mapping and navigation platform.
• Assess technical feasibility, performance, and design tradeoffs for new concepts.
• Implement complex real-time or near-real-time algorithms in software.
• Analyze bench, preclinical, and clinical data to develop, train, verify, and validate algorithms.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, clinical, and research teams while providing technical leadership and mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• For bachelor’s degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
• Strong foundation in signal processing, applied mathematics, and algorithm development.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or both.
• Strong quantitative skills in experiment design, validation, and performance analysis.
• Ability to independently develop and evaluate algorithms in an early-stage technology development environment.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, data science, biomedical engineering, mathematics, or physics.
• Expertise in image processing or computer vision for complex, noisy, or real-time data, ideally involving cardiac ultrasound or medical imaging.
• Experience with geometric reconstruction, segmentation, labeling, registration, or spatial modeling.
• Experience applying modern machine learning algorithms to image processing problems.
