Senior Software Engineer (Application Security)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the assigned office

Salary: $211,000–$263,500 USD annually, plus eligibility for equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and operate production-grade security services, features, and internal tools.
• Engineer end-to-end applications and backend services using modern data stores, frameworks, APIs, and scalable architectures.
• Build automation to detect, prevent, and mitigate security threats at scale.
• Develop frameworks, libraries, and developer guardrails that standardize secure development.
• Integrate security automation and verification controls into hirify.global CI/CD pipelines.
• Architect AI security controls, evaluation frameworks, and automated protections across product verticals while partnering with Product and Engineering teams.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development experience using languages such as Java, Python, PHP, Go, or Scala.
• Proven experience building end-to-end applications with databases, modern frameworks, and API design.
• Strong fundamentals in object-oriented and functional design, system architecture, automated testing, reliability, and code quality.
• Foundational understanding of security concepts and interest in solving security challenges through software engineering; deep security specialization is not required.
• Ability to break down complex technical problems into clean, scalable, and maintainable systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices architectures, or message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
• Experience with Java Spring or Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with AI/ML systems, LLMs, or AI application security.
