Senior Consulting Engineer (ClickHouse)

Location: Remote within EMEA, in a country where ClickHouse already hires. Travel to customer sites may be required for up to 35% of working time.

What you will do

• Scope customer projects with measurable success criteria, sizing, and timelines.
• Design architectures and validate schema, engine, capacity, and sizing decisions against customer data.
• Build implementations, data pipelines, integrations, migrations, tooling, and automation.
• Benchmark and test workloads, support production cutovers, tune systems, and provide knowledge transfer.
• Handle L1–L3 support cases, participate in the on-call rotation approximately one week per quarter, and share field feedback with Product and Engineering.
• Create reference architectures, knowledge base articles, and blog posts while collaborating with Pre-sales on production-ready demos and proofs of concept.

Requirements

• 5+ years delivering hands-on technical work for external customers in consulting, professional services, solutions architecture, senior support, SRE, or a related role.
• Deep practical experience with analytical, transactional, or relational databases.
• Hands-on SQL expertise, including writing complex queries from scratch and tuning and debugging them.
• Ownership of customer implementations, migrations, or proofs of concept from start to finish.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
• Experience deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes.
• Ability to provide precise technical answers and explain them clearly.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• ClickHouse or Splunk experience.
• Experience migrating analytical workloads from PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Elastic.
• Terraform experience.
• Experience with data pipelines and streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or Debezium.
• Python, Bash, or Go experience.
• Open-source involvement as a user, contributor, or community member.

Hiring process
