Scientist 1 (Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite

Base salary: $62,900–$94,300 annually, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity.

What you will do

• Execute experiments and analyses of moderate to advanced complexity and perform routine chemical and biochemical testing.
• Use experimental insights to troubleshoot problems and contribute ideas toward project goals and invention disclosures.
• Assemble and analyze data, draw key conclusions, maintain organized laboratory notebooks, and implement protocols.
• Provide supporting risk data to the Project Lead and understand the needs of internal customers and collaborators.
• Train internal customers in areas of expertise when needed.

Requirements

• University-level understanding of scientific principles and laboratory experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, with continued development toward subject-matter mastery.
• Ability to draw sound conclusions from general experimental datasets and interpret results to suggest next steps with guidance from other scientists.
• Ability to use advanced analytical instrumentation independently, including workstation equipment, hirify.global instruments, and third-party analytical instrumentation.
• Basic understanding of statistical significance, replicates, and controls.
• Effective communication with colleagues and supervisors through email, presentations, written reports, and meetings to support decision-making.
• Typically, a Bachelor’s degree and 0–2 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience.
