Embedded Software Engineer - Platform Software (Embedded Systems)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days a week. Domestic relocation assistance is available, and travel is up to 10%.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 per year.

What you will do

• Gather and analyze functional and technical requirements and prepare detailed documentation.
• Prepare and peer-review software design proposals.
• Write and implement low-level embedded software for next-generation ECUs and enhance existing code.
• Develop and execute system test plans, test cases, and failure-recovery testing.
• Debug hardware and software using oscilloscopes, debuggers, logic analyzers, diagnostic tools, code, logs, and system data.
• Collaborate with project leaders, clients, peers, technical experts, and vendors to resolve technical issues and improve product quality.

Requirements

• Accredited BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience researching, designing, developing, and testing low-layer embedded software, including RTOS integrations, I/O drivers, boot loaders, non-volatile memory interfaces, board initialization, or J1939/CAN/Ethernet communication networks for electronic control modules.
• Experience developing real-time embedded software in C or C++.
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR and modular architecture.
• Experience using Python and shell scripting to automate build processes.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and anti-patterns.
• Familiarity with Git and related merging and version-management techniques.
• Experience with Agile software team development and planning processes.
• Participation in technical and code reviews.
• Ability to analyze requirements, communicate effectively, work in a team, execute system tests, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and application problems.
