HVDC/FACTS IT/OT Engineer

Location: Bucharest, Romania; hybrid remote/office, with up to 50% international travel to customer sites and test labs, including Erlangen, Germany.

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, future-proof IT/OT architectures and security concepts for onshore HVDC and FACTS applications.
• Establish network security controls including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, TLS/SSL, and 802.1X authentication.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments with scanning tools such as Nessus and mitigate infrastructure risks.
• Maintain compliance with IEC 62443, NERC CIP, and ISO/IEC 27001, including cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Integrate IT/OT security upgrades into existing customer facilities and provide technical support for Windows Server, Active Directory, WSUS, and virtualization.
• Support testing and commissioning activities at customer sites and test labs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT Security, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in IT/OT security administration, preferably in critical infrastructure or utility sectors.
• Experience with IT/OT security architecture, vulnerability assessment and scanning, firewalls, IDS, TLS/SSL, and 802.1X.
• Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity standards including IEC 62443, NERC CIP, and ISO 27001.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Active Directory administration, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure management.
• Knowledge of HVDC and FACTS applications.
• Pragmatic technical problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent English required. German is considered a strong advantage.
