Technical Cofounder / CTO (AI & ML)

Location: Berlin, Germany / hybrid; full-time

Company

hirify.global is backing a stealth-mode AI venture building a field service copilot for technicians, with direct access to thousands of technicians through a leading European real estate industry partner. The tested MVP is moving toward spin-out and first funding.

What you will do

• Own technology end to end, including architecture, roadmap, build-versus-buy decisions, reliability, and security.
• Take the tested MVP to a production-grade product used daily by field technicians.
• Build reliable AI workflows and integrations with customer systems such as work orders and asset data.
• Improve the machine learning core through knowledge retrieval, multimodal photo and voice input, and diagnostic reasoning.
• Design the learning engine, evaluation, safety, monitoring, grounding, escalation, and regression-testing systems.
• Build technician-centered UX/UI, incorporate field feedback, recruit and lead engineering, and shape company strategy, culture, and investor conversations.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of machine learning experience applying ML in production products, ideally including LLMs, retrieval/RAG, NLP, computer vision, or model evaluation.
• Experience leading the technical build of a product from zero to one, such as as a tech lead or founding engineer.
• Hands-on software engineering across backend, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud; continued ability to build and ship independently.
• Sound technical judgment regarding LLM limitations, testing, and appropriate use.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, full ownership, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity.
• Product empathy and willingness to learn from field users and simplify complex work.
• Fluent German and English required; German is needed for working with technicians and technical source material.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning/AI, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

Nice to have

• PhD in Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, Information Retrieval, or a related field.
• Previous founder or early-stage startup experience.
• Microsoft Azure and enterprise B2B experience, including security, GDPR, and multi-tenant SaaS.
• Background in field service, industrial, maintenance, or proptech software.
• Experience with multimodal AI, voice interfaces, or decision-support systems.
• Experience hiring and leading engineering teams.
