Countermeasure Development Engineer (MATLAB/Python)

Location: Hybrid work from the Lincoln, Lincolnshire office, typically three days in the office and two days from home when project classifications allow; candidates must be UK nationals eligible to work in the UK and eligible to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance the CounterWorX® countermeasure simulation software.
• Model physical interactions and phenomena across dynamic simulations.
• Develop models, add software features, and solve customer challenges and requirements.
• Analyse, design, model, and verify countermeasure techniques across real-world scenarios.
• Optimise countermeasure parameters against specific threats and support customer delivery.
• Contribute to innovation, research, projects, training, bids, and the software assurance process.

Requirements

• Degree in a STEM subject, ideally mathematics, physics, or electronics.
• Experience using programming software such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Python.
• Experience with at least one stage of model development, including design, build, integration, test, or deployment.
• Understanding of modelling techniques such as stochastic, deterministic, or exploratory modelling.
• Understanding of physics or mathematical principles at degree level.
• Experience with Electro-Optical, Infra-Red, or Radio Frequency sensors in a defence setting.
• UK nationality, eligibility to work in the UK, and eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance are mandatory.

Nice to have

• Understanding of mathematics or physics involved in radar, Electro-Optical, or Infra-Red system operation.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
• Interest in new technologies and their application within an electronic warfare domain.
• Experience deploying models to batch-running hardware.
