Applied AI Engineer (Finance)

What you will do

• Architect and build finance systems, including FP&A, forecasting tools, live dashboards, and analytics.
• Automate the financial close using software and AI agents for reconciliations, AP/AR, spend review, and variance explanations.
• Own the usage-to-invoice pipeline and reconcile billing with actual robot operations.
• Build a financial data layer combining accounting, spend, CRM, billing, and robot operations data.
• Model pricing, deal economics, fleet and financing scenarios, and the annual operating plan in code.
• Extend existing tools and implement controls, checks, and audit trails for auditors, lenders, and investors.

Requirements

• Experience architecting and shipping a real end-to-end system across product, internal tooling, data, or infrastructure, with the ability to explain design choices.
• Ability to write working software using Python, SQL, APIs, and data pipelines, and build with LLMs and AI coding tools daily.
• Technical background with additional experience or a strong focus in finance, economics, operations, strategy, or founding a company.
• Demonstrated interest in or experience with finance and a fundamental understanding of company finances; a prior finance title is not required.
• Precision, attention to edge cases, and ability to build checks and explain financial numbers.
• Ability to learn quickly and take on ambiguous problems with limited direction.
• Interest in being embedded in a business function; this is not a product engineering or research role.

Nice to have

• Experience with usage-based or subscription billing systems.
• Experience with modern accounting, spend, and BI tools.
• Technical program management, especially FinOps or fintech, product management, or experience as a founder or first-function hire.
• Experience with hardware unit economics, equipment financing, or other capital-intensive businesses.
