Senior Electrical & Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Kinderdijk, Netherlands; full-time role with office commuting and project-based construction, testing, and commissioning activities.

Salary: €4,374–€6,642 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering, integration, and optimisation of electrical and automation systems across complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Coordinate technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, construction teams, commissioning personnel, and end users.
• Develop, review, and approve electrical designs, control philosophies, functional specifications, system architectures, and technical documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges, risks, and integration issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance during procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, start-up, and final handover.
• Act as the project’s primary electrical and automation authority while mentoring junior and medior engineers and contributing to engineering improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, system integration, or complex industrial projects.
• Extensive knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, and industrial control systems.
• Experience leading technical activities in multidisciplinary project environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, instrumentation, industrial networks, and automation architectures.
• Experience with testing, commissioning, and performance validation of integrated systems.
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities; professional proficiency in Dutch and English, written and spoken, is required.
