TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, verifying, and testing electrical power systems and avionics for carrier aircraft and hypersonic vehicles with an accent on wiring harnesses, aircraft power components, and aerospace systems integration. Focus on developing requirements, executing electrical system verification, supporting flight test operations, and solving complex integration challenges across reusable hypersonic flight systems.

Location: On-site in Mojave, California, United States; travel as needed, estimated at less than 5%.

Base salary: $76,400–$95,800 for Level I, $92,000–$119,000 for Level II, or $103,100–$146,500 for Sr-Level.

Company

hirify.global develops reusable hypersonic flight-testing and aerospace and defense technologies, including autonomous air-launched Talon-A vehicles.

What you will do

  • Design, modify, develop, integrate, and analyze electrical systems for the carrier aircraft and/or hypersonic vehicles, with emphasis on electrical power systems.
  • Develop control, data, signal, and power circuits using standard aircraft components, including wiring and harness diagrams.
  • Define electrical system requirements, verification activities, development plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Execute electrical system testing, integrated testing, component development, and flight-test support.
  • Write interface control documents, develop engineering tools, and contribute to complex aerospace systems integration.
  • Represent electrical systems in mission control, perform console operator duties, communicate regularly with the Talon-A Launch System Avionics Lead, and work with subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Aerospace development experience and relevant aerospace systems integration experience are required.
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical engineering, avionics, aircraft integration, and/or hypersonic vehicle integration.
  • Knowledge of EWIS standards; experience architecting, maintaining, and debugging 28VDC and 115VAC, 400Hz electrical power systems.
  • Experience with aerospace relays such as MIL-PRF-83536 or equivalent, aircraft power components including TRUs, circuit breakers, and bus feeds, and creating and maintaining wiring harness diagrams.
  • Experience writing test procedures and reports, developing requirements with a focus on electrical interface management, performing risk management, and supporting verification.
  • Experience with technical aerospace leadership, including working with subcontractors; ability to facilitate discussions and communicate technical challenges and guidance to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasking according to business goals, and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python, or equivalent software; Siemens Capital, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent wiring diagram software; and MS Office.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Level I requires a bachelor's degree and 0–2 years of engineering experience; Level II requires a bachelor's degree and 2–5 years; Sr-Level requires a bachelor's degree and 5–10 years. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice to have

  • Experience with government agencies, hypersonic programs, Electrical Load Analysis, 747 electrical systems, IEEE 802.3 networking, IRIG-106 telemetry, PCB design and integration, or Mission Control Center console operations during flight tests.
  • Existing security clearance.
  • Experience with Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics, Siemens NX, Catia, Solidworks, Labview, or configuration management systems such as Jira.

Culture & Benefits

  • On-site work at Mojave Air & Spaceport with occasional department travel of less than 5%.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug healthcare coverage.
  • Paid maternity and parental leave.
  • 50% company match per contributed dollar into a 401(k), up to $11,500.
