Lead Product Development Engineer

Location: Hybrid position based at the City of Industry, California facility; remote days are Monday and Friday. Travel up to approximately 15% domestically and possibly internationally.

Base salary: $130,000–$214,500 USD annually, plus participation in an annual bonus plan or role-based sales incentive plan.

What you will do

• Own the design and development of Emtek handle and entryway products from concept through production.
• Lead engineering teams, steer technical product development, and act as the product spokesperson.
• Develop product risk and mitigation plans and drive resolution of critical early design decisions.
• Guide capable, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes alongside product design.
• Lead design reviews, DFM, DFA, product requirements, subsystem specifications, and intellectual property claim development.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Design, Purchasing, suppliers, customers, and other engineering stakeholders; mentor team members and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 8+ years of product development engineering experience, including significant manufacturing exposure.
• Fluent use of 3-D CAD and PCs; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Familiarity with several of the following: advanced failure analysis, scientific problem solving, mechanical system modeling, FEA, CFD, FMEA, DOE, QFD, DFMA, fluid/mechanical/thermal engineering principles, manufacturing statistics, collaborative problem solving, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and component or assembly tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers from different countries and cultures.
• Written and verbal communication skills for working with multiple staff levels, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 15% of the time, domestically and possibly internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience with international suppliers.
• Proficiency in Spanish and/or Mandarin.
