Manufacturing Engineer, Fluid Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite position. The role requires willingness to work evenings and/or weekends during critical mission milestones.

Pay ranges: Engineer Level I: $86,100–$122,220; Engineer Level II: $112,340–$159,468; Senior Engineer Level III: $137,760–$195,552.

What you will do

• Conceptualize, develop, and manufacture tube-bending and welding cells for the Haven-1 program.
• Lead first-build and test activities, including design integration, assembly sequencing, mBOM development, work orders, and specifications.
• Create manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and standardized repair procedures for tubing systems.
• Support production of bent tubes, orbital tube welding, and manually welded tubing while maintaining efficiency and quality.
• Develop tooling and collaborate with design, integration, production, quality, and external vendor teams.
• Use root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and data-driven process improvement to reduce waste and improve production quality.

Requirements

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience managing a product or product line across multiple work centers or departments, involving fluid, pressurized, propulsion, or environmental control hardware in design, manufacturing, or test.
• For Manufacturing Engineer II: 2–4+ years of experience; for Senior Manufacturing Engineer: 4–6+ years of experience.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and/or integration experience.
• CAD proficiency and the ability to review designs, generate manufacturing documentation, and design assembly or test tooling; Siemens NX is preferred.

Nice to have

• Hardware-building or testing experience from industry or student teams such as Formula SAE, rocketry, CubeSat, or robotics.
• Experience with aerospace, spacecraft, propulsion, safety-critical, or high-reliability hardware.
• Experience taking designs or processes from concept through build or test and from R&D to production.
• Familiarity with Siemens NX and PLM tools such as Teamcenter.
• Exposure to thermal or structural analysis using Ansys or similar tools.
• Awareness of aerospace workmanship, design, and environmental test standards including IPC, SMC-S-016, NASA-STD-5001, or MIL-STD-810.
• Proficiency with GD&T, structured root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, clear communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
• At Senior level: experience mentoring engineers or technicians and managing multiple projects.
