Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Fluids Assemblies (Aerospace): Building and scaling mechanical fluids, electrical, and structural vehicle subassemblies for the Terran R launch vehicle with an accent on manufacturability, repeatability, product quality, and process development. Focus on releasing build and test procedures, resolving hardware issues on the production floor, coordinating cross-functional readiness, and developing scalable manufacturing systems.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role

Salary: $122,000–$182,000 USD per year

Company

Aerospace company developing the Terran R launch vehicle and the manufacturing systems, factory infrastructure, and processes required for scaled orbital launch production.

What you will do

  • Own vehicle sub-system hardware from design release through build, test, and delivery, ensuring execution readiness and product quality across high-volume subassemblies.
  • Develop and release detailed build flows, work instructions, and test procedures for repeatable, high-quality execution and production scale-up.
  • Support first-article builds and provide hands-on floor support during build and test, resolving issues, incorporating technician feedback, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with design, supply chain, production, and test teams on part readiness, tooling availability, schedules, and handoffs.
  • Contribute to manufacturing systems and infrastructure, including tooling strategies, ERP/MES workflows, and production documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Engineering or related technical degree and 5+ years of hands-on experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing or integration environment.
  • Investigating hardware issues, resolving non-conformances, and performing root cause analysis with effective corrective actions.
  • General assembly and test procedures, including tolerance stack-up analysis, structural proof testing, and pressurized leak checks.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and test teams to maintain hardware quality and schedule alignment.
  • Defining and rolling out new processes from scratch while collaborating with technicians, engineers, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, CAD, and basic design or test analysis.
  • Experience in at least two of the following: LOX cleanliness, leak checking, sensor checkouts, tube bending, tool design, crane operations, or subassembly builds.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting new aerospace product introduction or transitioning hardware from prototype to production in a high-rate or scaling environment.
  • Experience authoring and executing test procedures, including serving as a test conductor for integrated system verification.
  • Familiarity with hazardous operations, fluid system safety, or testing involving pressurized or high-risk environments.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, lean environment, including direct vendor engagement, tool development, or leading a small team through an ambiguous build or test effort.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative work across engineering, technicians, design, supply chain, production, and test teams.
  • Autonomy, ownership, and responsibility for solving complex manufacturing and launch-vehicle challenges.
  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Generous paid time off and sick leave, parental leave, and an annual learning and development stipend.
  • Equal opportunity workplace with reasonable accommodation available.
