Staff Engineer, Site Reliability

What you will do

• Own and evolve AWS infrastructure with Terraform, including EKS clusters, databases, networking, and core services.
• Build tested tools, automation, runbooks, self-service workflows, and secure infrastructure defaults for engineering teams.
• Improve CI/CD reliability with dependency and container scanning, secret detection, and short-lived deployment credentials.
• Define SLOs and actionable monitoring and alerting standards with engineering teams.
• Validate backups, restore procedures, and failover paths through regular recovery tests.
• Lead or support incident response, post-incident reviews, platform strategy, cross-team initiatives, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills demonstrated through production-quality tools or services, testing, code review, and maintainable interfaces.
• Experience personally designing, implementing, and operating security controls for access, workload identity, secrets, or network isolation.
• Deep hands-on Terraform expertise and ownership of infrastructure as code.
• Proven AWS experience at scale, including EKS, RDS, cloud networking, DNS, CDNs, and load balancers.
• Production Kubernetes operations experience, including debugging complex issues.
• Experience designing and improving CI/CD systems such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Strong observability skills with tools such as Datadog, Sentry, PagerDuty, or Cronitor, focused on actionable rather than noisy alerting.
• Experience with on-call and incident management, including running post-mortems and implementing resulting improvements.
• Ability to support developers across local, staging, and production environments.
• Regular use of AI in engineering work and willingness to continue learning about emerging AI capabilities.
