Manufacturing Engineer, Structures (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. Full-time position requiring willingness to work evenings and/or weekends during critical mission milestones.

Base salary: $86,100–$122,220 for Engineer I, $112,340–$159,468 for Engineer II, or $137,760–$195,552 for Senior Engineer.

What you will do

• Own build and inspection processes for primary structure assembly.
• Develop and refine welding, trimming, shearing, rolling, bending, and other manufacturing processes for safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery.
• Document and standardize processes and create or modify manufacturing plans and work instructions.
• Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, technicians, design engineers, and quality teams to solve production challenges and improve manufacturability.
• Resolve product non-conformances and implement root-cause corrective actions.
• Plan equipment, machine, layout, capacity, and product-flow improvements to support production demand and on-time vehicle delivery.

Requirements

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Manufacturing experience, including internships, managing a product or product line across multiple work centers or departments, or working with fluid, pressurized, propulsion, or environmental-control hardware in design, manufacturing, or test.
• 2–4+ years of experience for Manufacturing Engineer II or 4–6+ years for Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and/or integration experience.
• CAD proficiency, with NX preferred.

Nice to have

• Hands-on hardware-building or testing experience through industry or student teams such as Formula SAE, rocketry, CubeSat, or robotics.
• Experience with aerospace, spacecraft, propulsion, safety-critical, or high-reliability hardware and with taking designs or processes from concept through build or test and from R&D to production.
• Familiarity with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Ansys or similar thermal/structural-analysis tools, and aerospace workmanship, design, or environmental-test standards.
• Proficiency applying GD&T, structured root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• For Senior level: experience mentoring engineers or technicians and managing multiple projects concurrently.
