Principal ML Engineer, Admin Central (AI)

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; Flex work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or field

Annual base salary: $228,000–$342,000 USD for the primary Pleasanton location; additional US locations: $190,600–$342,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of next-generation AI platforms and autonomous agent frameworks.
• Design agentic capabilities including tool calling, multi-agent workflows, long-range planning, reasoning frameworks, and human-in-the-loop integrations.
• Build secure, high-throughput REST services, event-driven data pipelines, and multi-tenant ML runtimes using Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies.
• Establish MLOps standards covering CI/CD, observability, evaluation, model monitoring, privacy, and anonymization.
• Partner with software engineering, Product Management, Data Engineering, SRE, and Legal/Compliance stakeholders on scalable technical designs and data-governance strategies.

Requirements

• 12+ years in ML development and R&D leadership, including 8+ years with advanced ML methodologies, distributed frameworks, and cloud-based platforms.
• 6+ years building and hosting scalable ML services, microservices, and high-throughput production data pipelines using Java, Go, Scala, or Python.
• 4+ years working with LLMs, generative AI, RAG pipelines, and autonomous agent frameworks for enterprise applications.
• Expertise in Kafka, Spark or Flink, ClickHouse or Iceberg, high-throughput streaming, real-time feature extraction, and distributed columnar storage.
• Deep knowledge of deep learning, LLM orchestration, RAG, agentic systems, ML algorithms, Model-Based Design, MCP integrations, and tool-use frameworks.
• Experience with EDA on multi-tenant agentic workflows, high-dimensional embeddings, vector databases, and data isolation.
• Experience building, fine-tuning, and deploying domain-specific foundation models, including Kubernetes/Docker deployment, CI/CD retraining, and drift and latency management.
• Mastery of Python and the ML ecosystem, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangSmith, LlamaIndex, NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn; production experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Exceptional collaboration and mentoring skills, including technical leadership of cross-functional pods and communication with executives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Master’s degree or PhD.
