Senior ML Engineer, Admin Central

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; Flex Work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $192,000–$288,000 for Pleasanton; $163,000–$288,000 for additional US locations.

What you will do

• Architect, deploy, and maintain end-to-end machine learning pipelines covering distributed ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, and production deployment.
• Design LLM-driven recommendation features, next-best-action models, and agentic workflows.
• Optimize real-time inference and scoring microservices for sub-second responses in high-concurrency, multi-tenant environments.
• Integrate OpenTelemetry, LangChain, and LangSmith telemetry and tracing to monitor model performance, prompt/response drift, and execution efficiency.
• Build feature retrieval and analytics solutions with ClickHouse, Apache Iceberg, and Spark, collaborating with backend engineers.
• Partner with Product Management, Data Engineering, SRE, and Legal/Compliance on scalable ML solutions and governance requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of machine learning development experience, including research, development, and implementation of advanced models and techniques, with at least 4+ years building, deploying, and operating production ML systems at scale.
• 5+ years of experience with deep learning, NLP, and GenAI/LLM orchestration using PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, LangChain, and LlamaIndex.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, Scala, or C++ for high-performance backend systems, plus strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries including NumPy, Pandas, LangSmith, and DSPy.
• Experience with distributed processing using Spark, Flink, and Kafka, and high-throughput columnar or vector storage such as ClickHouse, Pinecone, and Milvus.
• Knowledge of RAG architectures, LLM fine-tuning, intent classification, recommendation engines, MCP tooling, structured agentic execution, multi-agent orchestration, contextual reasoning, and workflow optimization.
• Experience leading exploratory data analysis on multi-tenant execution logs, validating prompt/response accuracy, and engineering vector embeddings, feature stores, and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Experience with model building, foundation model adaptation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, low-latency inference, and the model development lifecycle.
• Experience with Kubeflow, MLflow, Airflow, or SageMaker for monitoring, latency tracking, and retraining at scale; Docker, Kubernetes, gRPC/REST APIs, and CI/CD in cloud-native production with 99.9% uptime and low-latency SLAs.
• Ability to mentor team members, drive cross-functional technical alignment, write system design specifications and model cards, and communicate technical and governance decisions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
