Senior Spacecraft GNC Engineer I (GNC/ADCS)

Location: Long Beach, California, USA; based at hirify.global's global headquarters. Coordination with teams in Denver, Colorado and New Zealand.

Base pay: $132,000–$220,000 USD annually for California positions.

What you will do

• Lead GNC and ADCS development for a diverse fleet of spacecraft and missions, including LEO, MEO, GEO, lunar, interplanetary, reentry, and RPOD missions.
• Design flight software, GNC algorithms, simulations, autonomy tools, and constellation-management solutions.
• Select GNC components and design spacecraft GNC subsystems, including fault-detection and response functions.
• Develop and execute test processes, including hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations, and integrate flight and simulation software with analysis, test, and operations tools.
• Support internal and external design reviews, subsystem integration and test, vehicle integration and test, and direct customer interactions.
• Mentor GNC engineers and coordinate schedules, milestones, technical status, and priorities with department leads, program managers, and related engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of industry experience in GNC/ADCS.
• Prior experience directly interfacing with commercial or government aerospace customers.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• For U.S. office roles, candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD.
• Active Secret or TS security clearance.
• 2+ years of RPOD design and operations experience.
• Jira planning and workflow experience.
• Experience mentoring younger engineers or leading teams across a project lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with IMUs, reaction wheels, star trackers, gyroscopes, and other GNC hardware.
• Experience developing blended attitude solutions from varied sensor data.
• Experience developing, implementing, and verifying flight software, conducting spacecraft on-orbit operations, and resolving anomalies.
• Experience working on multiple projects, prioritizing team work, or contributing to GNC business development and conceptual design.
