Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer I (Space Systems)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global headquarters

Base pay range: $132,000–$220,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop and analyze launch vehicle and spacecraft trajectories, including ascent, orbit insertion, and orbital maneuvers.
• Perform orbital propagation, rendezvous planning, station-keeping analysis, and collision-avoidance work.
• Support mission design through launch-window analysis, delta-V budgets, and contingency planning.
• Interface with flight software and GNC teams to validate and optimize guidance profiles.
• Generate trajectory data products and provide flight-dynamics support for mission-readiness reviews.
• Develop simulation tools and flight-dynamics infrastructure while supporting real-time mission operations, anomaly response, and post-launch analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Space Systems, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent Engineering or Applied Physics degree.
• 5+ years of experience in mission design and flight dynamics.
• Understanding of orbital mechanics and orbit-determination theory.
• Mission-analysis experience with STK, Astrogator, GMAT, Monte, Copernicus, or an equivalent tool.
• Python software-development experience.
• Git or an equivalent version-control system, and Jira or an equivalent project-management tool.
• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• For U.S. offices, candidates must satisfy applicable ITAR authorization requirements, such as being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Monte Carlo numerical simulation experience.
• Orbit-determination analysis with ODTK, Orekit, or an equivalent.
• Team or software project-management experience.
• Ability to solve complex problems under time pressure and prioritize tasks with stakeholders.
