Operation & Maintenance Engineer (Power Plant) - Memphis

Location: Full-time, on-site role at a power generation facility in the Memphis region; Southaven, MS and Memphis, TN. Potential travel to other SpaceXAI sites.

What you will do

• Provide operation and maintenance engineering support for a multi-manufacturer gas turbine fleet, generators, balance-of-plant, process and fluid systems, and plant electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot trips, alarms, and equipment failures with shift teams and return the plant to service.
• Direct contractors, define work scope and schedules, and verify safe and correct completion.
• Own reliability for assigned systems through bad-actor elimination, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
• Develop operating, maintenance, switching, and isolation procedures; manage critical parts and preventive and predictive maintenance in the CMMS.
• Support outage planning, start-up, shutdown, commissioning, turnover, and application of field safety standards including LOTO, NFPA 70E, confined space, and hot work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or another engineering discipline.
• 3+ years of operation or maintenance engineering experience in a power plant, generating station, or other high-reliability industrial facility.
• Must be able to work on-site at the power generation facility and perform hands-on work in heat, cold, rain, tight quarters, and at heights.
• Ability to remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and perform required physical activities including standing, climbing, bending, grasping, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Experience with gas turbines from more than one manufacturer and with balance-of-plant, fuel gas, water, compressed air, and plant electrical systems.
• Willingness to work rotating or flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.
• Experience using AI tools to simplify engineering, maintenance, or operating processes.
• Experience directing contractors, managing critical-parts lists, and writing engineering plans and procedures.
• Working knowledge of P&IDs, single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, protection, and switching.
• Experience with LOTO, NFPA 70E/arc-flash practices, CMMS preventive maintenance, work orders, equipment history, outages, commissioning, or root-cause investigations.
