Data Scientist - Security Data & AI Lab

Location: Leeds, Manchester or Edinburgh, UK; hybrid working with at least two days per week or 40% at an office site

What you will do

• Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps engineers and security domain experts to deliver data-science solutions across security areas.
• Convert internal customer and stakeholder problems into data-driven solutions with measurable business impact.
• Build and maintain traditional machine-learning and agentic systems.
• Integrate models into existing systems using MLOps and model explainability so insights are actionable.
• Develop security domain knowledge and communicate data-science concepts through demonstrations and show-and-tells.
• Participate in planning, prioritisation, dependency management and team ceremonies.

Requirements

• Experience delivering data-science or analytics projects from problem definition through implementation, including articulating measurable business impact.
• Solid understanding of machine learning and underlying statistics, including fundamentals needed for design decisions with unsupervised ML models.
• Knowledge of foundational model systems, agent frameworks and best practices for building agents.
• Experience with Python and common data-science libraries including pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy and visualisation frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying and transforming large datasets, ideally with BigQuery, Snowflake or similar data warehouses.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure.
• Effective communication skills for explaining technical concepts and analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to turning business challenges into data-driven solutions.
• Curiosity and an innovation-focused approach, with motivation to stay current with industry developments.
