Software Quality Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Hybrid in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; work from an HPE office an average of 2 days per week.

What you will do

• Design, automate, and execute system-level test cases for scale, reliability, security, and performance.
• Contribute to and influence test automation strategy, evaluating and integrating tools to improve efficiency and coverage.
• Collaborate with product, development, support, and platform engineering teams across the full quality lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to QA engineers and partners.
• Participate in design reviews to improve testability and mitigate risk.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of hands-on QA experience, including designing test automation frameworks and performing non-functional testing for scale, reliability, performance, and security.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in Pytest and Playwright.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP; microservices; Docker; Kubernetes; and private-cloud testing challenges.
• Understanding of infrastructure and data center management, Linux and virtual-machine environments, storage, compute, networking, and virtualization technologies such as KVM and VMware.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, SQL/NoSQL, and performance or load-testing tools.
• Knowledge of the complete SDLC, software testing methodologies, test strategy, test planning, and test execution.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git or GitLab, Jenkins, containerization, and automation framework ownership.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills; experience mentoring junior team members and driving cross-functional collaboration.
• BS/MS degree in Science or Engineering from a recognized and accredited university or college.

• Knowledge of cloud architectures, cross-domain concepts, design thinking, development fundamentals, DevOps, distributed computing, microservices, full-stack development, release management, security-first practices, or user experience.
