Senior Staff Software Engineer - Identity & Trust (Fintech)

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary: $238,660–$341,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for the Identity & Trust platform.
• Lead complex initiatives across multiple services and engineering teams from problem definition through rollout and operation.
• Design highly available distributed systems and APIs using microservices, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, and MySQL.
• Architect authentication, authorization, KYC, PII protection, secure document processing, deduplication, and related trust capabilities.
• Establish reusable platform primitives, standards, APIs, documentation, reliability practices, and production-readiness expectations.
• Advance responsible AI-powered and agentic engineering workflows while mentoring engineers and partnering with Product, Security, Risk, Data Science, Compliance, Infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with progression into Staff or Senior Staff-level technical leadership.
• Experience defining and executing technical strategy for large-scale distributed systems or platform infrastructure, and leading architecture across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and operating secure, highly available distributed backend systems at scale.
• Strong expertise in identity, trust, security, privacy, or regulated-data systems, including consumer and enterprise experiences.
• Deep knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, RBAC/ABAC, MFA, identity federation, and token management.
• Experience with KYC or identity verification, fraud or risk systems, PII tokenization, data vaults, encryption, secure document processing, identity resolution, or user deduplication.
• Production experience with Okta, Auth0, Keycloak, or comparable identity infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Java, C#, Go, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to work across language boundaries.
• Deep experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL data stores, Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven architectures, SLOs, observability, incident response, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and production reliability.
• Hands-on experience building AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows, including orchestration, tool use, evaluation, security boundaries, and guardrails, plus experience using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
• Exceptional architectural judgment balancing security, privacy, reliability, scalability, developer experience, regulatory requirements, and execution speed.
