Senior Platform Engineer (AI Security)

What you will do

• Own MongoDB and BigQuery operations from initial design and provisioning through monitoring, performance tuning, access management, and incident response.
• Design and execute MongoDB sharding strategies, including shard keys, zone placement, and chunk rebalancing.
• Build telemetry with metrics, logging, and tracing across MongoDB, BigQuery, and the wider infrastructure.
• Design, deploy, and operate Azure and Google Cloud infrastructure processing billions of security events daily.
• Operate Kubernetes and CNCF-based infrastructure, including resilient multi-tenant clusters and ArgoCD workflows.
• Build Terraform/OpenTofu modules and collaborate with Security, Backend, and Product Engineering.

Requirements

• 4+ years of production MongoDB experience, including MongoDB Atlas, sharding, replica set design, index strategy, backup and restore, and full cluster lifecycle ownership.
• Experience redesigning shard keys, rebalancing chunks, or re-architecting zone placement on a growing MongoDB cluster.
• 5+ years of Site Reliability Engineering or Platform Engineering experience building and operating production infrastructure, including on-call and critical incident response.
• Production Kubernetes and CNCF ecosystem experience, including debugging multi-cluster networking issues.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider: Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS, in that order of preference.
• Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, or Terragrunt, including reusable modules and state management at scale.
• Hands-on Prometheus and Grafana experience, including designing SLIs, SLOs, and operational dashboards.
• Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences and document decisions.

Nice to have

• MongoDB Atlas capabilities such as Atlas Search, Provisioned Throughput, or the Atlas Admin API, or custom tooling for platform monitoring.
• Infrastructure experience for large monorepos, including build optimization and caching with Bazel, Nx, or similar tools.
• GitOps implementation experience with ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience building secure infrastructure and addressing SOC 2 and GDPR compliance requirements.
• Infrastructure cost and performance optimization experience.
• GitHub Actions experience for CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with Bazel for monorepo builds.
