Human Interactive Driving Research Intern, World Models (AI)

Location: Los Altos, California, United States; hybrid, in-office role

Salary: $45–$65 per hour for California-based roles.

What you will do

• Conduct original research in world modeling, multi-agent interaction, reinforcement learning, perception, or sim-to-real transfer.
• Collaborate with researchers to design, train, and evaluate learning-based driving systems.
• Develop and evaluate prototypes in closed-loop simulation and, if time permits, on autonomous driving hardware.
• Integrate large-scale open-source and internal datasets.
• Present findings internally and work toward top-tier academic publications.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong machine learning background, including deep learning, generative models, reinforcement learning, or probabilistic modeling.
• Hands-on experience with world models, model-based reinforcement learning, 3D reconstruction or sensor fusion, and large-scale simulation for robotics or autonomous systems.
• Proficient coding skills and expertise in modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Prior publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences.

Nice to have

• Experience with probabilistic and generative modeling, autonomous driving datasets, open-source foundation models, or Amazon Web Services such as S3, EC2, and SageMaker.
